Composite Specialties has become one of the first NHRA-approved manufacturers of carbon fiber spill plates for use on nitro funny car bodies.

Recently, Composite Specialties released a new carbon fiber wing design suitable for cars competing in the Pro Modified category.

Last year, Composite Specialties became the first company to produce a one-piece 'pre-preg' carbon fiber funny car body. According to Burnett, "the 'pre-preg' carbon material produces a much stronger and more durable product than a conventional wet lay up."

Several teams have already ordered spill plate and spoiler kits Jim Dunn Racing have already begun running the first set.

"The advantages of having a carbon spill plate are quite noteworthy," continued Burnett. "Using a carbon spill plate rather than a metal one allows teams to take weight off the body of the car while providing a stronger, more rigid surface to help keep these cars hooked up at speeds in excess of 320 mph."

We have just released our new carbon fiber wheel tubs to help lighten the full-bodied cars like Pro Mods and Pro Stocks.

Composite Specialties is located in Brownsburg, Indiana, and produces a wide variety of carbon fiber products for drag racing applications including injectors, wings, spill plates and Pro Mod/Pro Stock body panels.
